The Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home is locally owned and operated. We are located in the Southeast corner of Woodward and Woodward Heights and 9 1/2 Mile Road just south of I-696 in Pleasant Ridge. We have been serving families in the areas for over 60 years. We believe in flexible, sincere and highly personal service that is available day and night, 365 days a year. Mr. Wessels, the founder of Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home, originally worked for the Steinbal Funeral Home in Ferndale. He worked at Steinbal Funeral Home until Mr. Steinbal retired. Mr. Wessels decided to build a new funeral home, which is the current location. The funeral home was built in the early 1940's, and was constructed as a funeral home, which was rare for the time. The Double "W" itself represents the merging of the past with the present. The past, Mr. Wessels, and the present being Mr. Wilk. John Wilk joined the firm almost 20 years ago. The funeral home is presently run by John Wilk with his wife Brigitte and their 5 children. Son Steve recently completed Mortuary School in August of 2003. John has over 30 years of experience in funeral service. John and his family exemplify the true meaning of family owned and run.
