Amalia Reyes Obituary

Amalia Reyes, born on September 21, 1948, was a devoted mother, cherished friend, and steadfast spirit who gracefully navigated life's challenges until her passing on February 14, 2026. Her resilience and unwavering commitment to her family defined her life and will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.

As a single mother, Amalia exemplified strength and determination while raising her three children. She was a resourceful businesswoman who successfully ran a board and lodging service and operated a canteen, catering to college students. Her entrepreneurial spirit allowed her to provide for her family while skillfully balancing work and home life. This dual commitment not only shaped her resilience but also instilled the same values in her children, ensuring they understood the importance of hard work and education.

Amalia’s love for her family was palpable through her culinary skills, particularly in the kitchen, where many of her children's fondest memories were crafted. Her ability to prepare delicious meals, including beloved dishes such as "beef tapa," "biko," and "kalamay," became a hallmark of her affection. Even in the face of illness, she continued to nourish her family with quiet strength and generosity. The warmth and love that radiated from her meals will forever be remembered by her loved ones.

Education was also a significant part of Amalia's journey; she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Education and briefly pursued teaching. Her high school years were highlighted by her charm and poise, culminating in her being crowned Ms. NAP, the muse of Northwestern Academy of Pampanga. This experience encapsulated her confidence and grace, qualities that would remain with her throughout her life. She took pride in her involvement with the alumni committee, underscoring her commitment to community and connection.

Amalia's personality was characterized by her outgoing nature and warm-heartedness. She had a unique way of expressing her care through cooking, ensuring that those around her always felt welcomed and well-cared for. Her generous spirit was evident in her willingness to embrace all her children — both biological and stepchildren alike. The love and respect she cultivated within her family, including the extended family from her first husband, spoke volumes of her kindness and genuine goodness.

In her leisure time, she found joy in simple pleasures, often watching Filipino channels, game shows, and cooking programs. Her playful spirit also led her to explore casinos during her travels, where she enjoyed bringing light-heartedness and fun. Amalia took pride in presenting herself with grace and confidence, always dressing up and carrying herself with poise.

Amalia faced her battle with cancer with remarkable courage. Though her family wished for more time together, they find solace in knowing that she is finally at rest. Her proudest accomplishments revolved around her role as a devoted mother. Through her sacrifices and perseverance, she ensured that her children received strong educations and values needed to thrive. The joy she found in witnessing her children and grandchildren grow into successful adults remains a testament to the impact she had on their lives.

Amalia Reyes leaves behind her loving husband, Eduardo Reyes, her children and stepchildren, Edgar (Neddie) Aguas, Benedick (Gertrude) Aguas, Anthonette (Neil) Sanchez, Allan (Arlene) Reyes, Levi (Kathryn) Reyes, Anne (Billy) Craig, and Jay (Lauren) Reyes, along with many grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit and legacy.

In her memory, we celebrate a life of love, resilience, and dedicated service to family. Amalia's unwavering devotion has ensured that her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
