Emily Bak-Lukasik, 101, a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, and Auntie, died on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Lourdes Senior Assisted Living in Waterford Twp. She was a Ferndale resident since 1942, was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and grew up in Detroit. Emily was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, and the Knights of Columbus Holy Cross Council and belonged to the Polish American Society in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Emily worked during the Rosie the Riveter era at General Motors and took care of her very large family until well into her 90's. Surviving Emily are her daughter Patricia (Richard) Pondell of New Boston, a son Dennis (Deborah) Lukasik of Troy. Emily was predeceased by her husband Leo Lukasik, daughter Karen (Robert) Knoska, great-granddaughter Dain Kurkowski. Emily is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Visitation is 3-8pm Thursday March 12 at Wessels and Wilk Funeral Home, 23690 Woodward Avenue in Pleasant Ridge, prayer 6pm at the funeral home. In state 10am Friday, March 13, followed by mass at 10:30 am at St. James Catholic Church with Father Paul Cheateau officiating; burial, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorials to St. Bonaventure Capuchin Monastery in Detroit.
