Gerald R. Grasby

Gerald "Jerry" R. Grasby, 73, of Oak Park, passed away on August 8, 2020 of natural causes. Gerald was born July 28, 1947 in Detroit Mi. After a few years growing up in East Palmyra, NY, he spent all of his adult life in Oak Park. Gerald was retired from Chrysler, where he worked for many years maintaining and repairing Hi-Lo machinery. He had previously worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, for Huntoon Equipment Company and Art Van furniture. Gerald was a gifted and accomplished mechanic. His hobbies included riding and repairing motorcycles, remote-controlled aircraft and cars, and model trains. Gerald spent much of life at his grandparents' farm in Forester Mi, enjoying family, the outdoors, and hobbies such as racing go-karts he had built.He loved the Christmas holidays and did a wonderful job decorating the front of the house every year with lights. He also enjoyed Star Wars and other space related movies, in addition to anything about World War 2. Gerald had a quiet demeanor, but was a loving person with a ready spirit to be of help to others. He was a good friend and neighbor, and will be very much missed by those who knew him.Gerald was the son of Roy C. Grasby and Genevieve (Marski) Grasby. He is survived by two sisters, Patricia (David) Wittenberg and Susan (Joe) Arcaro, one niece, Elisabeth (John) Gilmore, three nephews, Adam (Stephany) Wittenberg, Alex Arcaro, and Nick Arcaro, along with cousins and close friends. Calling hours will be at the Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home 23690 Woodward Avenue Pleasant Ridge MI 48069 on Wednesday August 12th from 3-7 along with a Homecoming service at 7pm. Remembrances of Gerald may be shared at this time. Burial will take place on August 13th at the Forester Township Cemetary in Carsonville Mi.
