Janina Guzowski

Janina (Jenny) Guzowski, age 95, passed away January 29, 2020. Janina was wife of the late Walter; mother of the late Krystyna (Steve) and the late John; grandmother of Regina, Deborah (Dan) and Korienna (Mervyn); great grandmother of Jack; aunt of Igor; and cared for beautifully over the last three year by Darlene Matala.Things she enjoyed: Vernors as her "champagne," feeding the squirrels (almost got evicted for it), talking to the birds, gardening, crocheting (she claimed to have made nearly 200 afghans for the veterans), Kit Kats, pineapple juice, watermelon, fishing (popcorn in the water was the secret to her success), word search puzzles, visits by friends and family, balloon volleyball (very competitive), receiving communion (it was her medicine), cooking, and feeding peopleThings she didn't enjoy: Seeing scantily clad women on shows like "Dancing with the Stars," specks of anything on the carpet, not being able to do things for herself, getting her blood pressure taken•She was the mother of Miss Polonia-and very proud of it!•A devout Catholic, not a day went by without her saying her rosary (often more than once a day). •Bravely brought her two young children to America to give her family a better life.In State: Tuesday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m., at Our Lady Queen of Heaven - Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8175 Lantz St., Detroit, MI 48234 until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.; Followed by burial at Mt.
