Jerry Holowka

Jerry Holowka age 90 of Garden City passed away Saturday May 21st at his home. Jerry was the husband of the late Carolyn, Dear father of Marilyn Senay, Rochelle Guznack, Glenn, James and Paul. Brother of Orest Holowka and Walter (Alice) Holowka. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren and 3 nieces also survive. Jerry was born in New York city in 1931, they lived on the lower east side of Manhattan for 11 years before moving to Detroit. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He then worked for the U S Postal service for almost 50 years. Jerry was a member of Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral for around 60 years, during which he enjoyed singing in the church choir. his passion was studying history and current events, which he like discussing with friends and family. Jerry had strong opinions but was generous person and would always help those in need.  Visitation is Wednesday from 6 pm at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral 2101 Livernois Ferndale, Michigan with a Panihida service at 7 pm.  Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10 AM. Burial will be at the Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery in Jordanville, New York. Memorials are suggested to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral .
