Died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at her home where she has been loving cared for by her family. Kay was born October 21, 1937, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of James Leslie and Mary Dorothy (Priestap) Straith. She married James A. Logan on October 6, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1984. Kay was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant for Knight Industries in Auburn Hills, Michigan, until her retirement on February 19, 1998. She loved to golf and was a member of several golf leagues throughout her life. Kay was a supporter of animal rights and volunteered often at the Michigan Humane Society; was a regular volunteer with Meals on Wheels as well as OPC. She loved to spend time with girlfriends at the casinos and almost always came back as a winner! Kay had a magnet personality and would light up any room that she walked into. Survivors include her loving companion of 13 years, Gary Benner of Rochester, MI; her daughters: Leslie (Ken) Hacker of Troy, Michigan; Sandra (Chris) Janowiak of Ypsilanti; five grandchildren: Hillary (fiancee Jeff Raymond), Jamie Hacker, Christopher Janowiak, Geoff (fiancé Mary Hodnicki), and Kelsey Janowiak; two sisters: Marilyn Gravlin of Auburn Hills, MI and Sue (Jim) Kelleher of Pennsylvania; her best friend of 50 years, Jane Erhart and Jane's daughter, Patty (Rick) Nessel who was like a daughter to her; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only son, James A. Logan Jr. on September 22, 1983, and two brothers, Murray Straith and Jim Straith. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Wessels-Wilk Funeral Home, 23690 Woodward Ave., Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069. Burial will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills, Michigan. Contributions in Kay's memory may be made to the Michigan Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 until time of service at 1:30 p.m.
