Konstantinos (Gus) Grigoriou
September 7, 1937 – December 22, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Konstantinos (Gus) Grigoriou on December 22, 2024, at the age of 87. Gus was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by hard work, love, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Born in Greece on September 7, 1937, Gus served as a Captain in the Greek Army before immigrating to the United States in 1971 in pursuit of a brighter future for his family. Initially settling in New York, Gus moved to Michigan in 1973, where he lived the remainder of his life.
In Michigan, Gus opened a restaurant and later founded a bread delivery company. He also worked at a chemical plant in Ferndale, embodying his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
Gus cherished the simple joys of life: spending time with his loved ones, enjoying coffee and conversations under the grapevines, and tending to his garden along with his beloved wife, Tula. He had a passion for soccer, coaching and cheering on his sons and family members from the sidelines. An avid bowler, Gus enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of the lanes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dimitra (Tula) Grigoriou; his son Ted Grigoriou (Melissa); his granddaughter, Emersen; and his grandsons Ethan, Aidan, and Nathan. Gus was preceded in death by his son, Frank.
A funeral service to honor Gus’s life will be held on Friday, December 27, at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.
Gus will be remembered for his warmth, his wisdom, and the love he shared so generously with everyone he met. May his memory be eternal.
