Leslie Margaret Green (née Halls), dear wife, sister, artist, and friend, peacefully passed away on May 29, 2026, at Arden Courts Memory Care in Bingham Farms, Michigan. Born on April 13, 1960, in Highland Park, Michigan, Leslie’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with creativity, kindness, and a spirit that touched all who knew her.
Leslie was raised in Pleasant Ridge by her loving parents, William “Bill” Halls and Margaret “Marge” (née Koivu) Halls, alongside her siblings David and Carolyn. An alumna of Ferndale High School, she pursued her passion for the arts at the Center for Creative Studies and the University of Michigan, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in December 1983. Her artistic talent blossomed throughout her career, which included positions at Milliken and Guilford Automotive Suppliers and a distinguished role at General Motors Design Color & Trim Organization, where she rose to manager.
Leslie’s creativity extended beyond her professional life. She was an accomplished watercolor and drawing artist, with many works exhibited at the Michigan Watercolor Society Exhibition. An avid lover of water, she proudly held a state record as part of the Ferndale High School Swimming Relay Team and spent joyful summers at the Pleasant Ridge Pool, both as a swimmer and lifeguard.
Her nurturing nature was also evident in her garden, recognized by the Livonia Garden Society for its beauty and care. Leslie found joy in sharing time with her beloved dog Matilda, indulging in reading, cooking, and peaceful walks along the shores of Elk Rapids. Known for her radiant personality, she brought laughter and light into every room, delighting those around her with her wit, warm heart, and beautiful singing voice.
In March 2022, Leslie was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia, facing this challenge with the same grace and resilience that characterized her life. She entered memory care in November 2024 and remained surrounded by love and respect until her passing.
Leslie is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Rodney Green; her mother, Margaret Halls; sister Carolyn (Tom) Bernardi; brother David (Anne) Halls; and nephews Jack Bernardi, Robbie, Michael, and Andrew Halls. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Halls.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Leslie’s remarkable life will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her service 1:00 p.m. at Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home, 23690 Woodward Ave, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069.
Donations in Leslie’s memory may be sent to the Bluefield Project to Cure FTDB.
