We celebrate the life and legacy of Lisa Lynnette (Cooper) Ray, who entered the gates of Heaven and the arms of her loved ones on January 6th, 2025. Lisa was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend who brought laughter and love to all who knew her. She was 55 years old. Born on May 28th, 1969 to Wilbur and Donna Cooper, in Detroit, Michigan, Lisa was a beautiful beacon of love, hope, and resilience. Though her life was filled with chronic pain and illness, she faced each day with humor, compassion, fierceness and strength.
Lisa is survived by her precious children: James, Lori, Thomas, Robert, Molly, and Treavour. She is also survived by her loving mother Donna; her older brothers Will, Rocky, Dean and Kevin; younger sister Holly; co-parent Kimber Cull, and countless extended family members.
Lisa’s life was a reflection of her love: with family at the heart. She loved her children with every fiber of her being. They were her pride, joy, and life’s devotion. They will miss her dearly.
Lisa loved music; The Monkees and classic rock, watching Doctor Who and Red Dwarf, and reading when she had the chance. She had Coke and Pepsi running through her veins. And she loved Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night”; where she found beauty and inspiration in the moving colors and story. She had always felt a kind of kinship with Vincent.
Lisa was compassionate, loving, justice-seeking, driven, and stronger than anyone else we know. She was also warm, tender, sweet and gentle. A fierce defender filled with passion, love, and joy. A beautiful soul with an infectious laugh, a joy-filled smile, and wonderful hugs filled with unconditional love.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at Wessels and Wilk Funeral Home at 23690 Woodward Ave, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069. Visitation will begin at 1pm, followed by the service at 6pm. The service will be live streamed via Zoom (see link below in service information) PLEASE MUTE YOUR PHONES SO AS NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE SERVICE. THANK YOU!
Lisa will be severely missed and leaves a hole in our lives that no one else can fill. Her memory will live in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
