Michael Douglas Western

Michael was loving and devoted brother to Ian and son to Mary. He was a sensitive, fun, and talented man, and he loved to bring joy to others. He loved jazz music, video games, record collecting, baseball and the Lions.

Michael is a graduate of Ferndale High School and Oakland Community College. 

He was a talented musician. He performed multiple times at State Honors Choir, musicals, jazz band, marching band, and was the recipient of the John Phillip Sousa Award. He received multiple scholarships for music in both vocal and instrumental music. Michael studied music for two years at Wayne State University and performed with the DSO, and with the jazz ensemble at Cliff Bells. He played baritone and alto saxophone, sousaphone and guitar and was an excellent vocalist. 

Michael was a devoted educator working with students with special needs as a paraprofessional at Oak Park Schools and as a Registered Behavior Technician serving young people with autism spectrum disorders. 

He loved baseball, the Lions, jazz records and video games. 

Memorial visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, January 16th from 3pm - 8pm at the Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home 23690 Woodward Ave. Pleasant Ridge. A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, January 16th at 7 pm.

Funeral Services for Michael will be Friday at 10am at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (Formerly Our Lady of Fatima) in Oak Park.

Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery at 18201Clinton River Road in Clinton Township 48038. Immediately following the internment service the family wishes to invite you to the Fern Hill Country Club located at17600 Clinton River Road Clinton Township 48038 to break bread in Michael's Memory.
