Milivoje Stajic Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of, Milivoje (Mico-Mike) Stajic, on September 9, 2018. Survived by and beloved father of Dara Stajic Bruic (Dane) and Melanie Stajic Fettes. Adored Grandfather of Todor and Zorica Bruic. There are no words to express the overwhelming love, respect and gratitude Mico had for his son-in-law, Dane, who has been by his side for the past 2 months making sure his last wishes were realized. Beloved husband of Priscilla Edwards Stajic and companion for last 18 years to Dorothy Behrens Stajic. Also survived by his sister Milica Dujmic (Pavle) and cherished Uncle to Dragan Dujmic (Desiree) and Milenko Dujmic (Violeta) and families of Racine, Wisconsin. Also cherished Uncle to Petar Stajic of Windsor, Ontario, Julijana Ristic and Family of Stockholm, Sweden and Mirjana Radovic and Family of Kotor, Montenegro. Affectionately known as "Cool Man" by many adored Nieces, Nephews and Kumovi in the United States, Canada and Europe. He also loved his dog Jimmy who was always by his side. Born July 27, 1938 in the small Village of Krekavice, Nevesinje in the former Jugoslavia to parents Petar and Mara. He was the youngest of 7 siblings. As a young man, he set off in search of a better life and began his interesting journey in 1963 with his cousin Rade Stajic and landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They eventually made their way to Windsor, Ontario where he met and married Priscilla Vlaich Edwards. They eventually settled in Madison Heights, Michigan where he then became a proud citizen of the United States. Also a proud retiree of 32 years from General Motors Tech Center, Warren, Michigan. During retirement he continued to enjoy travelling and visiting the many Casino's where he had "VIP" status. He was also an active long-time member of Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church, Ecorse, MI. and very proud of his Serbian culture and heritage. Mico will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his big heart, generosity, a bit of stubborness and very spirited tales of a life well-lived on his own terms. He loved being the host of countless gatherings at his home in Madison Heights, where he made everyone feel welcome and always serving up an endless feast of food and spirits. The bar was always "open" at Mico's house. Many heartfelt "Thanks" go out to Family and Friends who continuously visited the past few years as it became harder for him to get around. Also, "Thank You" to the caring and compassionate staff at Woodward Hills Rehab Center, Davita Dialysis Center and the very special staff at Hospice of Michigan.Family and Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 with Prayers at 7:30 on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Wessels & Wilk Funeral Home, 23690 Woodward Ave., Pleasant Ridge, MI.
