Peter William Hunt

WB Peter William Hunt laid down his working tools on October 11, 2024. Born May 26, 1947, in Detroit MI. His father, Basil “Bill” Hunt (a GM executive) and mother, Nancy Hyman Hunt (a GM secretary) met and married in Buenos Aires Argentina.
Pete attended Ferndale Public Schools and graduated from Howe Military Academy in 1965. Pete served nearly 10 years in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of staff sergeant and then went on to work for the Department of Defense, in military procurement, for 22 years until his retirement in 2002. 
Pete was also an active member of his Masonic Lodge. Pete and MaryEllen retired to their dream home in Interlochen Michigan on Green Lake. During retirement Pete and MaryEllen would regularly provide transport for disabled veterans to medical appointments in Northern Michigan. 
Peter is survived by his wife of 46 years MaryEllen, and three children Kevin (Anna deceased), Rosemarie Walch (Victor), and David (Angela), 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren (one on the way) and sister Susan Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Grand Traverse Bay Area Chapter 38, Disabled American Veterans, c/o American Military League Building, 423 Sybrandt, Traverse City, Michigan 49684 or All Saints Anglican Church, 699 Francis Drive, Traverse City, MI. 
Visitation Friday, October 18, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wessels and Wilk Funeral Home, 23690 Woodward Avenue, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069. The burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Acacia Park Cemetery, 31300 Southfield Road (just north of 13 Mile), Beverly Hills, MI. Family and friends will gather afterwards at 3:00 p.m. at 5405 Auburn Road, Shelby Township 48317.
A memorial service is planned for May 26, 2025, in Traverse City, MI.
