Thea de CastroJanuary 19, 1980 - November 20, 2016Thea passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. John Hospital in Detroit on the afternoon of November 20th. She had been battling a rare form of peritoneal and appendiceal cancer since July.Thea was born in Manila to her father Benito, who predeceased her, and mother Isabelita. She grew up in a large, loving family. She was fascinated by the human mind and graduated from De La Salle University with a psychology degree in 2001.She loved her life. She loved to laugh. She loved to dance. She loved long drives, singing out of tune as the miles rolled by. She loved quirky t-shirts, spreading positive messages. She loved to celebrate, making every occasion special. But more than anything else, she loved her sons, who she fought for.Thea is survived by her her sons, Chase, 6, and Chance, 3; mother; sisters Thelma and Marissa; brothers Rommel and Roderick; and 16 nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a tight circle of friends from both the Philippines and United States who were attracted to her bright smile, strong spirit, selfless kindness, and never-ending positivity. Thea has been flown home to the Philippines.A celebration of her life will be held at Mary Immaculate Parish Church (Nature's Church) in Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas with viewing from Dec. 6-9 along with masses on Wed. Dec 7 at 2pm and Sat. Dec. 10 at 1pm.After the Saturday mass, we will proceed to Manila Memorial Park Sucat in Parañaque for the interment. She will rest there with her father and brother.She was a caring daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who was deeply loved and will be missed. Please join her family in sharing stories about and paying respects to a beautiful soul.
