Yvonne Swift Obituary

It is with great sadness that our family shares the home-going of our beloved Wife, Sister, Mother, Mother-In-Love (Law), Grandma, Nana, Great-Grandma, and dear friend – Yvonne “Kay” Swift. Although our hearts ache as we grieve such a great loss, we are comforted in knowing she is in heaven with our Savior, Christ Jesus, and there is no greater joy than being in His presence.

Kay was born Yvonne Kay Bennett on May 24th, 1942, to Milton and Lucille Bennett in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She lived with her parents and brother in Detroit when her father, Milton, worked at Willow Run Airport. When the Davison Freeway was being built, her family had no choice to move as the highway was going to go through the middle of their Detroit home, so they moved to Royal Oak, Michigan.  It was in Royal Oak that Kay met the love of her life, William “Bill” Swift, in 1959 and shortly after married him. They continued living in Royal Oak raising their six children staying in the Detroit Metro Area.

Kay came to know the Lord as her Savior in the 80’s and from there her life drastically changed in that her greatest desire was to serve Jesus and to share the Hope of an eternal life with Him to all those she knew and loved.

Kay was well known for her giant hugs and wet kisses! Her ability to locate the best and greatest “deal” whether it was shopping or checking out local garage sales. She loved traveling with her family and playing Euchre with friends. But most of all, she lived for spending time with her family – her greatest joys.

Her last moments on earth were spent surrounded by her children with her husband gently holding her hand while the song “Give Me Jesus” played as Kay was met by her Savior and ushered into heavens gates to spend an eternity in His presence worshipping Him.

Kay is survived by her beloved husband, William D. Swift, of 62 years. Her brother William M. Bennett and her children Sandra Lynne (Gus) Koerner, Cheryl Ann Swift, Carrie Lee (John) Hanser, William R. (Diana) Swift, Cindy Louise Livingston, and James Micky (Lisa) Swift as well as 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
